The students will use transcripitions, lead sheets and listening examples, but will also perform. Examples: John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Egberto Gismonti, David Liebman, Bill Evans, Tom Jobim, Igor Stravinsky, Beethoven, Chick Corea, Yellowjackets, Thelonious Monk, Dave Holland, Steve Swallow and Steve Coleman. Concepts: Counterpoint interaction, Non Functional Harmony; Motive Development; "building a melodic phrase, pacing; Chromatic approaches, Be Bop; rhythmic density and movement; resolution control; Dynamics studies and " Question & Answer Concept". • Jazz Performance -  Ensemble playing Lupa Santiago Repertoire: Jazz and Brazillian Music Standards, composers like: Tom Jobim, Thelonious Monk, George Gershwin, Chico Buarque, Pixinguinha, Edu Lobo, etc...
