• Advanced Improvisation Concepts

Planned for all instrumentalist and vocalists, all styles, putting the audience in touch with Contemporary music concepts for improvisation, as well as composition and performance. The students will use transcripitions, lead sheets and listening examples, but will also perform.
Examples: John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Egberto Gismonti, David Liebman, Bill Evans, Tom Jobim, Igor Stravinsky, Beethoven, Chick Corea, Yellowjackets, Thelonious Monk, Dave Holland, Steve Swallow and Steve Coleman.
Concepts: Counterpoint interaction, Non Functional Harmony; Motive Development; "building a melodic phrase, pacing; Chromatic approaches, Be Bop; rhythmic density and movement; resolution control; Dynamics studies and " Question & Answer Concept".
• Jazz Performance - Ensemble playing
